At PS Kenya, our mission is to accelerate the achievement of positive health outcomes for all Kenyans by leveraging partnerships, technology, and health expertise. The International Women’s Day 2025 themed “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every woman and girl, regardless of background, ability, or socio-economic status, has equitable access to quality healthcare and opportunities for a brighter future.
Through service delivery, social and behavior change, health systems strengthening and social marketing, PS Kenya continues to drive impactful changes on a larger scale. In 2024 alone, our interventions led to 1,041 maternal deaths averted, 1,238,594 Couple Years of Protection (CYPs) provided, 1,487,981 Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) averted, and 366,235 unintended pregnancies prevented. These accomplishments reflect our overarching purpose: Better Health and Wellbeing for all. However, we believe true empowerment goes beyond health; it means ensuring that women and girls have the rights, resources, and representation they need to thrive.

Access to maternal and reproductive health services is essential to our vision. Through the DESIP Programme, we continue to expand access to family planning and reproductive health services for marginalized and underserved populations, including adolescent mothers, women in rural areas, and women with disabilities. Strengthening health systems and equipping healthcare workers, community health promoters, and county governments enables women and girls to make informed choices about their health and future.
Sustainable change requires collaboration at the grassroots level. Through the Accelerate Program, we work closely with community-based organizations (CBOs) to enhance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) education and services. These CBOs serve as trusted voices in their communities, helping to break down cultural and systemic barriers to healthcare access, increase awareness on contraceptive options, maternal healthcare, and gender-based violence (GBV) response, and provide safe spaces for women and girls to seek support.
Economic empowerment is a crucial aspect of achieving gender equality. The Binti Shupavu Program demonstrates our commitment to adolescents and young people. The intervention raises awareness on adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health, connects young women, particularly adolescent girls, to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, and provides practical skills that enhance economic independence reducing vulnerability to gender-based violence and early marriages.
Achieving Better Health and Wellbeing for ALL requires actions that extend beyond today. It calls for continued investment in women’s health and rights, partnerships that drive gender-inclusive policies, and stronger advocacy for women’s leadership in healthcare and beyond. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we urge governments, private sector players, community leaders, and individuals to stand in unison with PS Kenya in ensuring that every woman, every girl, and every community has the resources they need to thrive.
For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.
