The Delivering Equitable and Sustainable Increases in Family Planning Program (DESIP) by Population Services Kenya (PS Kenya) will be hosting a National Family Planning Learning Conference on the 27th and 28th of November 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upperhill Nairobi.
The key objectives of the conference are:
• Share best practices and lessons learned from the DESIP program for adoption by Counties and other FP stakeholders.
• Gain commitment from key FP stakeholders, including the Government of Kenya, to institutionalize high-impact interventions.
• Advocate for the allocation of resources to support these high-impact interventions.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we have collaborated with the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to implement the DESIP Program. This program, which began in June 2018, aims to enhance access to and uptake of Family Planning (FP) services, particularly in rural areas and among vulnerable populations.
The DESIP program has been instrumental in reducing maternal, neonatal, and child mortality and has been implemented by a consortium led by Population Services Kenya (PS Kenya), along with other reputable organizations. It has achieved remarkable progress, contributing to the increase in the use of modern FP methods, as indicated by the recently released Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) 2022.
The purpose of the DESIP National Dissemination Conference is to share the best practices and lessons learned during the program’s implementation. The conference will feature presentations and discussions on a wide range of topics related to family planning and will also serve as an opportunity for key FP stakeholders, including government representatives, development partners, implementing partners, academia/researchers, and other interested parties, to come together and commit to institutionalizing these interventions.
