Under the USAID APHIAIplus HCM (2012 – 2016), PS Kenya implemented the “Zuia Kuhara Okoa Maisha” campaign sought to increase caregivers’ motivation and their understanding that diarrhea is a severe disease for their under-5 children, increasing their knowledge of the preventive and curative interventions available. The campaign was implemented in Coast, Western and Nyanza from July to December 2012.
In partnership with the Ministry of Health and others private sector partners implemented Choo Changu, Heshima Kwangu (My Toilet, My Dignity) Campaign in Kisumu, Busia, Nyeri and Nakuru. The main campaign driver was dignity among community members. Over 2 million people were reached with the mass media messages, 8,235 small group sessions were conducted with an average of 29 people in each session,400,900 home visits were conducted reaching 1,349,263 people, 15 van interrupts were done contacting 20,550 people, 20 roadshows with each reaching 325 people, 2 supportive supervisory visits conducted in all the 12 sub counties. PSK also supported the Health Promotion Advisory committee in providing a learning platform in all counties.
In 2014 PS Kenya supported MOH develop the national consumer awareness and communication campaign for improved sanitation that included an integrated communication strategy, communication messages and tools for use by MOH & implementing partners
